Carbondale Police Department Detectives have arrested a man who claimed to be a police officer.

55-year-old Mark Crawford of Pinckneyville was arrested on Wednesday in rural Jackson County and charged with Impersonating a Public Official and Disorderly Conduct.

A resident confronted Crawford on Tuesday when he was found standing on their porch in the 400 block of West Main Street.

If anyone is uncertain about the identity of a purported law enforcement officer in the City of Carbondale, contact the Carbondale Police Department for verification.
