Another defendant is convicted in the 2016 shooting of a Carbondale Police officer

Another defendant has been convicted in a case involving the shooting of a Carbondale Police Trey Harris back in July 2016.

The Carbondale Police Department reports a Jackson County jury Thursday convicted 31-year-old Xavier Lewis of Salina, Kansas on numerous charges. They include Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer with a Firearm, Cannabis Trafficking, Manufacture and Delivery of Cannabis.

He will be sentenced at a later date.

The three other defendants were previously sentenced.

29-year-old Alex Karcher of Salina, Kansas was sentenced to 27 years in prison...29-year-old Xavier McRay of Salina, Kansas received a 10-year sentence and 31-year-old Christian Reichert of Marion was sentenced to 23 years.

Officer Harris suffered permanent damage to his vision as a result of the injury which required him to medically retire from law enforcement.
