Carbondale Police detectives have continued to investigate a shooting incident from late July in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue.

An individual was shot by a suspect who was not immediately identified or located. The victim was hospitalized and survived the injuries.

In the course of the investigation, detectives identified 18-year-old Blake Morrison of Du Quoin as the shooting suspect. An arrest warrant charged Morrison with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

In addition, a warrant charged 19-year-old Chloe McGrew of Du Quoin with Aiding or Concealing a Fugitive.

On Friday, detectives coordinated with the Illinois State Police, Du Quoin Police Department, and the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and arrested Morrison and McGrew in Du Quoin without incident.

The investigation revealed the suspects and victim are acquaintances and this was not a random act of violence. They were incarcerated in the Perry County Jail and will eventually be extradited to Jackson County.
