A Carbondale man has been sentenced on a First Degree Murder conviction stemming from the death of his daughter.

The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation reports 47-year-old Isaac Hill has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

In June 2022, the Carbondale Police Department requested ISP to assist with the investigation of an injured 3-year-old female that was brought to a local hospital by her father, identified as Hill. Hill’s daughter was later pronounced dead.

An investigation and collaborative effort by ISP investigators, CPD, DCFS, Jackson County Coroner’s Office, and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office resulted in the arrest of Hill.

Hill was found guilty on August 23, 2023 following a bench trial in Jackson County.
