A southeast Missouri man is accused of threatening people with a handgun in Carbondale

During foot patrols early Saturday morning in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue, an individual told Carbondale Police officers a man had threatened them with a handgun.

The victims pointed out the suspect and officers approached him. He was identified as 21-year-old Ethan Jones of Portageville, Missouri.

The investigation revealed a handgun in Jones’ waistband. He was taken into custody and the loaded handgun was seized. Jones is not permitted to possess a handgun.

He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
