The Carbondale City Council and Park District agreed on a proposal for the city to lease the Kids Korner building to the district for one year.
For more than two hours the Carbondale City Council and Park District held a special joint meeting to negotiate a lease for the Kids Korner building.
The city owns the building and the district operates the child care service.
Both sides were not agreeing on who should be liable for major maintenance and repairs until Councilman Jeff Doherty offered a suggestion.
“I would propose that we enter into a one-year agreement at zero rent, the park district is responsible for all maintenance and repairs as it has been for the last 30 some odd years with an out clause.”
The out clause is if repairs are more than what the Park District’s budget can handle.
Both entities will have there attorney’s draw up the lease for approval.
