The Carbondale Police Department is set to launch a significant training initiative named “Safer Together,” designed to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community. This training, which will commence at 8:00 am on August 28, 2024, is funded by the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance. Its primary goal is to enhance officer safety and promote community trust, two critical components for effective law enforcement.
“Safer Together” focuses on the essential link between officer wellness and public confidence. The program aims to foster positive relationships between police officers and community members, highlighting the mutual benefits of collaboration in ensuring public safety. By addressing both the safety needs of officers and the community’s trust in law enforcement, the training seeks to build strong, positive partnerships that contribute to crime reduction and overall community well-being.
The training will feature sessions that explore strategies for improving police-community interactions and will emphasize practical approaches to enhancing safety and wellness on both sides. Media representatives are invited to attend the kickoff event, where they will have opportunities to speak with Carbondale Police Department’s public information officers and hear the opening remarks.
