A local author writes a children's book to inspire

Breanna Churchill is a graduate of early childhood education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

After becoming a mother, she formed the Brown Bear Book Club, an online resource to empower educators and parents with books and resources for young children.

Now, she’s written her own children’s book, entitled “The Little Bird Who Wanted to Fly.”

WSIU's Brad Palmer had a chance to speak with Breanna about her work.

Breanna will hold a book signing on Saturday, February 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the African American Museum inside the University Mall in Carbondale.

She will host a story time on Saturday, March 11 at the Sallie Logan Public Library in Murphysboro at 11 a.m.

There will be a book signing and story time on April 6 at Kids Korner in Turley Park in Carbondale from 5-6 p.m.

A virtual book tour is scheduled for the week of April 17-21. More details will be available soon.

Breanna will also be at the Science Center in Carbondale on April 29 from 2-3 p.m.

The Brown Bear Book Club can be found on social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
