Southern Illinois Congressman Mike Bost has been chosen by to serve as the chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs for the 118th Congress.
The former Marine served as ranking member on the committee the previous two years.
The committee is tasked with setting the party’s agenda on veterans issues and leading oversight efforts of the administration.
In one of his first votes of the 118th Congress, Bost voted to block the Biden administration from hiring 87,000 new IRS agents.
The Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, which Bost co-sponsored, passed the House by a 221-210 margin.
