This Saturday Relay For Life of Williamson, Franklin, Saline and Gallatin Counties will hold a luminaria display and ceremony in Marion.
On July 17th the tower square plaza in Marion will look a little different at night.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Williamson, Franklin, Saline and Gallatin Counties will host a luminaria display and ceremony to honor every life touched by cancer from 7 to 9 pm.
COVID-19 restrictions prevented the group from holding fundraisers over the last year.
Senior Development Manager Stephanie Smith says organizers chose to only have the luminaria display because they weren’t sure what restrictions would be in place when they started planning for the event.
“People who are with the relay for life generally do big fundraisers or restaurant fundraisers or they plan bingo nights or 5k’s and that was very limited this year and having to do that, but we’re so proud what all of our volunteers have done, it’s been a tough year and everybody’s just excited to be in person a little bit on Saturday.”
Smith says they hope to return to holding a full relay for life event next year.
