A pre-school aged child suffered life-threatening injuries in a head-on crash just before noon Thursday in Jefferson County.
Illinois State Police say the four-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital along with 29-year-old Jillianne Snyder of Mt. Vernon. The driver of the other vehicle, 66-year-old Terry Zewiski of Ashley was not injured.

Troopers say Snyder's car crossed the centerline of Route 148 and hit Zewiski's tractor trailer head-on.

Route 148 was shut down for about two hours during the crash investigation.
