One person died and three others were hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Elkville.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports the incident happened Thursday evening on Highway 51 at Royalton Road.

The preliminary investigation shows a car, driven by Kristopher Moore, was southbound on Highway 51, turning left onto Royalton Road.

At the same time, a Jeep, driven by Levi Barnett, was traveling north on Highway 51.

Moore's car turned into the path of the Jeep and the two vehicles collided. The Jeep overturned and the Jeep’s body separated from the frame.

Barnett, and a juvenile passenger, were ejected from the Jeep. Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moore, his juvenile passenger, and Barnett’s juvenile passenger were all transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Moore was cited for Failure to Yield Turning Left. The roadway was closed for about 2 ½ hours.
