A teen dies in Carbondale after being hit by a vehicle

Carbondale Police continue to investigate a fatal accident involving a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Main Street early Saturday morning.

They determined a vehicle hit a pedestrian while the pedestrian walked in the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk.

The pedestrian, a 17-year-old male, was eventually pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale as a result of his injuries. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No one is charged with any offenses at this time.
