Severe winter weather has impacted the amount of Red Cross blood donations, as the organization says that supplies are at quote, "critically low levels".

It estimates nearly 15,000 blood and platelet donations have gone uncollected just this month.

With the amount of snow, ice, and extreme temperatures decreasing across the country, individuals are urged to make an appointment now to give blood and platelets. As a thank you, those who give during February will receive a $20 amazon gift card. The Red Cross is also launching an all-new blood donor rewards program as a way to thank donors.

Appointments can be made by using the Red Cross blood donor app, visiting the Red Cross website, or by calling 1-800-Red Cross.
