Research indicates there are almost a half million acts of violence in America’s schools every year.

Steve Webb is the superintendent of the Goreville School District and founder of the Safe Schools System. He’s also the author of the book “Education in a Violent World.”

WSIU's Brad Palmer spoke with Webb, who attributes the reasons for violence, including school shootings to the unmonitored, unregulated access young people have on the internet and parents and school leaders being unable to connect to the world children are growing up in.

As a news producer and news anchor on All Things Considered, Brad provides the listeners with a recap of the day's top local and state news as well as breaking news at any given time. Contact WSIU Radio at 618-453-6101 or email wsiunews@wsiu.org
