In Carbondale, Hundreds of area residents are expected to partake in the annual Thanksgiving Day Meal held at the Newman Catholic Student Center Thursday, Nov 24. A hot meal of turkey and traditional holiday side dishes and desserts will be served from 12 noon until 2p.m. This event is free and all are invited to enjoy food and fellowship. No reservations necessary. Meals can to be delivered to those who are unable to attend. Delivery requests will be taken until Monday, Nov 21 at 4p.m. Individuals, families, and seniors are welcome. To volunteer, make a donation, or have a meal delivered, call the Newman Center (618-529-3311).

In Anna: Short Story and Pizza Night is Nov 21, 6 pm. Led by Tom Caldwell to discuss the short story By the Waters of Babylon by Stephen Vincent Benet.  Please read in advance, and then come ready to discuss and eat pizza. Instructions and link to find the short story can be found in today’s almanac on our website and they ask for you to RSVP by November 19th. Link to short story:
