In Mt Vernon, see "The Lights” - an exhibition of holiday magic at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts. Open 5:00 to 9:00 pm each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through December 31. Immerse yourself in winter wonder with more than 1 million Christmas lights twinkling along a 3/4 mile walking trail. Roast s’mores, view the art galleries, enjoy seasonal beverages & food truck cuisine!

In Jackson County, The River-to-River Trail Society announces its 10th public hike of the fall hiking season on Nov. 26th on the Cove Hollow Trail. This hike is free and open to the public. This will be a hike of moderate difficulty, 4.5 miles in length, 3 hours hiking time. The leader of the hike will be Bob Mulcahy who can be reached at (708) 471-7500 for more information. Hikers should meet at 10:00 am at the Cedar Lake Boat Ramp. Check the post on the River-to-River Trail Society website at www.rivertorivertrail.net for more information including directions to the meeting area.

In Carbondale, Hundreds of area residents are expected to partake in the annual Thanksgiving Day Meal held at the Newman Catholic Student Center Thursday, Nov 24. A hot meal of turkey and traditional holiday side dishes and desserts will be served from 12 noon until 2p.m. This event is free and all are invited to enjoy food and fellowship. No reservations necessary.
