In Makanda, Fishing 101 Program for Adults at Giant City State Park is on Saturday, August 12th from 10am-Noon. If you interested in learning the basics of fishing but you’re not sure where to start, Join local Urban Fishing Coordinator, Ethan Taylor Stephenson, as he shares tips on fish identification, baiting, lures, and casting. The City of Carbondale will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of its incorporation on Wednesday, August 23 at 3:00 PM at the Carbondale Civic Center. This CommUNITY event will honor and celebrate the history and accomplishments of the past 150 years and will conclude with a candle lighting ceremony. Residents, Saluki family, business members, civic groups, and non-profit agencies are all invited to join the historical event.
