The “Off the Rails” Concert Series returns to downtown Carbondale this weekend.
The City of Carbondale and Carbondale Main Street are teaming up to host free outdoor concerts featuring local entertainers at the Washington Street venue. The first of five concerts will be this Saturday, August 12th from 7 to 10pm. The Washington Street Concert Venue is at the corner of S. Washington Street and E. Main Street.

In Mulkeytown, The West Franklin Historical District & Silkwood Inn Museum hosts it’s next “Third Sunday Meals” on August 19th. Enjoy a Meatloaf Dinner Social from 5-7pm. Carry-outs will also be available.
In Makanda, Fishing 101 Program for Adults at Giant City State Park is on Saturday, August 12th from 10am-Noon. If you interested in learning the basics of fishing but you’re not sure where to start, Join local Urban Fishing Coordinator, Ethan Taylor Stephenson, as he shares tips on fish identification, baiting, lures, and casting. All gear and supplies will be provided. This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Please call Giant City Visitor’s Center to register.
