In Makanda, Touch of Nature is hosting a Moonlight Dinner and Paddle event on September 29th. Gather around the campfire with family and friends for a campfire-style dinner before hitting the waters of Little Grassy Lake for a relaxing paddle. Whether you're an experienced paddler or a first-timer, this paddle promises to be a memorable and magical experience. September 29th. Doors open at 5:30 PM, Dinner begins at 6:00 PM. The Carbondale Branch NAACP will host its 46th annual Freedom Fund Program on Sunday, October 22 at 4pm at the Carbondale Civic Center. This year’s theme, Thriving Together: In Movement. In Culture. In Community, is to encourage thoughtful and purposeful dialog and actions around collaborative efforts to make democracy work for all Americans.

The Friends of the Herrin City Library will be having a Book Sale on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday, October 2, 2023, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. This will be a huge sale with lots of great books! Do not miss this one! All proceeds benefit the Herrin City Library.
