This is your WSIU Union Almanac for Thursday, March 28 brought to you by Liuna, the Laborers International Union of North America, the Laborers local 773 and by Ullico Insurance and Investments.

This week in labor history, in 1970 – Five days into the Post Office’s first mass work stoppage in 195 years, President Nixon declares a national emergency and orders 30,000 troops to New York City to break the strike. The troops didn’t have a clue how to sort and deliver mail: a settlement came a few days later.

In Marion, everyone is invited to bring the family to Local 773 for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday at 10am. Take your picture with the Easter Bunny and age groups for children up to 10 years old will hunt for eggs at beginning at 10am.

April 1st through 4th, training courses for Intro To GPS, Mason Tending, and Apprentice Orientation will be offered at the Local 773 training center in Marion.
