This week in labor history, in 2006 – What was to become a two-month strike by minor league umpires begins, largely over money: $5,500 to $15,000 for a season running 142 games. The strike ended with a slight improvement in pay.

The upcoming meeting for Construction Stewards and Apprentices is April 13th from 9 to 11am at the Local 773 in Marion. This meeting is required for apprentices and anyone who wishes to remain a steward on construction jobs.
In Marion, compete in the inaugural Midwest Cornhole Clash sponsored by the Laborers Care Foundation. The event is expected to become the highlight of the Midwest's cornhole calendar. Players and sponsors are invited to join the fun at Mountain Dew Park on Saturday, April 27th. Teams and sponsors are filling up fast. Team Registration: 8:30 AM - 9:45 AM
