In Murphysboro, the 73rd Apple Festival is underway through Sunday. The festival celebrates the area apple harvest and offers numerous activities such as live music, a carnival with concessions, many contests featuring everything from apple pie eating to the crowning of Appletime Royalty. There is an arts & crafts fair, two parades, a high school marching band competition, car show, and much more. See the schedule of events at https://murphysboroapplefestival.org/

The Egyptian Area on Aging is organizing Free Shredding events. The first one is tomorrow at The Murphysboro Senior Center and then October 18th at Happy Hearts Senior Center in Metropolis. Both events will be held from 10am to 1pm.
