ON THIS DAY in 1957 President Dwight D. Eisenhower orders US troops to support integration of nine black students at Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas.

Shawnee Group Sierra Club hosts “Seed Dispersal and Propagation” presented by Sonja Lallemand, horticulturist and educator. Thursday, October 10, 7:00. This presentation will look at the various means of plant reproduction via seed dispersal mechanisms and the various methods of propagation. Carbondale Township meeting room at 217 E. Main St. Free and open to the public. You may have seen Sonja at Humpday Farmers Market in Carbondale. The Humpday market is each Wednesday from 3 to 6pm in the Legacy Fitness parking lot on West Main Street.
