In Herrin, the Lawyer in the Library program is offering free, private, one-on-one, 20-minute consultations with Julian Valdes. These sessions are designed to assist you with legal coaching, document review, legal questions and more (referrals to additional community services, e-filing court documents, and answering legal questions). Each year, the Carbondale Police Department Christmas Store provides toys to children from Carbondale ages 1 to 10. The program also includes providing a new winter coat to each child. Coats for the children are donated through an annual Coat Drive, co-sponsored by the SIU Athletics Department. NEW coats for boys and girls, ages 1-10 will be collected at home men's and women's basketball games tomorrow night, November 11th, 13th & 18th. Donations of new children’s sized winter coats, new children’s shoes, or new toys can be dropped off in the lobby of the Carbondale Police Department and the Civic Center Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There is still time to register a child to receive a coat until November 21st. New Arts Jazztet, a Southern Illinois jazz group comprising SIU faculty, will perform at Jazz Vespers, an evening prayer service at Epiphany Lutheran Church, in Carbondale, at 5 p.m. Sunday, November 10th, led by Pastor Brian Coffey.
