ON THIS DAY in 1964 Nobel Peace Prize presented to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Oslo, Norway.

Locally,

Join the Southern Illinois Pagan Alliance (SIPA) as it celebrates Yule, this Saturday, December 14 at the Gaia House Interfaith Center in Carbondale. We approach the longest night and the shortest day of the year, as the wheel of time winds slowly back toward warmer days ahead. This is a free public event open to all ages. All are welcome.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with the ritual to follow at 7 p.m. A potluck will follow. Please bring what you can to share. Optional. No worries if you can’t bring anything. SIPA will have its (usually) twice-a-year Fundraising Raffle! Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event and you do not have to be present to win! Everyone who donates items to the raffle will also receive a free ticket. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Gaia House is located at 913 South Illinois Avenue at the intersection of Grand Avenue across from Southern Illinois University.
