In Makanda, experienced long-distance hiker wishing to take a more challenging guided hike on the 12-Mile Giant City Horse Trail. Melanie Kasson, Park Volunteer and Master Naturalist, leads participants along the six-hour hike on Wednesday from 8:30am-2:30pm. Olney Central College is hosting upcoming information sessions for students interested in applying for Fall 2025 admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program. The one-hour meetings are at 3 p.m. on February 19 and at 2 p.m. on February 26 in Dr. Kent L. Wattleworth Hall, Room 213. All applicants are required to attend an information session before submitting their applications.

The Carbondale Branch NAACP is hosting the 5th Annual Black History Scholar Bowl on Thursday, February 27th at The SIU Student Center Cambria Room. Organize a team or be a spectator. Registered teams will receive a study packet to prepare for questions. See www.carbondalenaacp.org

 
YOU’RE INVITED TO A FREE DINNER, FILM SCREENING AND CONVERSATION. Indie Lens Pop-Up, presented by ITVS, INDEPENDENT LENS, and WSIU with partner the Carbondale Public Library will host a screening of “Bike Vessel,” featuring a community discussion and free meal for the first 35 participants. “Bike Vessel” follows the heartwarming journey of a father and son who embark on a cycling journey to celebrate their health transformation after the father overcame three open-heart surgeries at the age of 70. Tuesday, February 18 at 5pm at The Carbondale Public Library.
