Susan Wegmann will bring her extensive higher education experience when she takes over the SIU Global Campus program on July 1.

In less than a month SIU Carbondale's new director of the SIU Global Campus, Susan Wegmann, will arrive to begin running the program, formerly known as SIU's Extended campus.

SIU Carbondale's provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, Meera Komarraju, says as distance learning expands, the Campus will benefit.

"Anything that is offered online, has tremendous opportunity to grow. We are excited about our new hire, and believe that the vision that she has will be helpful for us in achieving our goals."
Meera Komarraju

The Global Campus provides classes for off-campus students, military bases, and, Komarraju says the program will also be a good fit for company employees looking to upskill. Komarraju adds Global Campus is a good fit for the recently unveiled Imagine 2030 long-term strategic plan for the campus.
