Leaders are encouraging students, faculty, and staff to be vaccinated before the term begins

Southern Illinois University Carbondale leaders are out with their COVID guidelines for the fall semester.

Masking will be recommended, but not required, in most areas. Masks will be required in the Student Health Center and other healthcare settings.

COVID vaccines are also highly recommended, but not required to be on campus. The university is also going to continue to provide testing - but will not require it for unvaccinated faculty, staff, or students. Testing will be open from 12:00pm-4:00pm each Tuesday at Grinnell Hall.

If someone tests positive for COVID, they're directed to isolate and contact their supervisor. Students will work with the Dean of Students on isolation and plans to make up assignments.

Leaders say cleaning protocols will continue, and hand sanitizer will be available across campus.
