SIU men's basketball opened its summer access period this (Wednesday) morning inside Banterra Center.
The new-look Salukis welcome back nine letterwinners from last seasons 23-win team while bringing in five newcomers to the roster.
The team lost two all-time greats in Marcus Domask and Lance Jones. Head Coach Bryan Mullins says this is an important time of year for this edition of the Salukis.
"We have a lot of different personalities on this year's team. We're still learning about some of the new guys. But, there is an opportunity for guys to step forward and maybe take a little bit more of a leadership role, more ownership of this program, whether it's a returning guy or a new guy. I think the summer is a great time for the guys to play on the court, open gyms and also hang out at the apartments, get to know each other."
Mullins also added assistant coach Jerrance Howard to his staff this spring. He is known as one of the nation's top recruiters after successful stints at programs such as Kansas and Texas.
