Attendance was up dramatically from pre-pandemic levels at SIU-Carbondale's summer camps.

Sarah VanVooren, who helps coordinate many of the camps as director of Events and Outreach, says attendance was up 11% from 2019.

Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center director Brian Croft, says attendance at Touch of Nature summer camps jumped 30% this year, compared to 2019.

The university offers dozens of academic, art, music, athletic and outdoor camps throughout the summer for ages 5 and up.

Officials say planning is already underway to make 2024 even better.
