Art Education Nation, SIU's registered student organization for Art-Ed is hosting the competition encouraging regional middle and high school students to showcase their artistic talent.

You've heard of the upcoming total solar eclipse, but the SIU-Carbondale campus is also preparing to host the Chalk-Eclipse, an annual chalk art competition.

Art Education Nation, SIU's registered student organization for Art-Ed is hosting the event encouraging regional middle and high school students to showcase their artistic talent.

Thanks to the efforts of Art Education Nation and Illinois art teachers Jeremy Crawford of Cobden High School and Bruce Breeden of Carterville High School, over 300 students will transform the SIU campus into vibrant works of art.

This year's theme honors the upcoming solar eclipse and encourages the students to bring their interpretations to campus sidewalks.

The public is invited to watch the Chalk-Eclipse contest on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon on Faner Mall's sidewalks.
