Two SIU-Carbondale students have passed away.

Chancellor Austin Lane says the students are Ramesh Muthina, a master’s student in health informatics and member of the Indian Student Association, and Selena Hubbard, a senior majoring in psychology.

Lane says the university recognizes Muthina’s death may be particularly difficult for the international student community. International Student and Scholar Services at the Center for International Education is available to provide additional guidance and support.

A remembrance ceremony sponsored by the International Student Council and the Indian Student Association took place Wednesday afternoon at the Center for International Education office.

Chancellor Lane says the school will provide information on a memorial for Hubbard when it becomes available.

No foul play is suspected in either student's death.
