Southern Illinois University Carbondale is excited to welcome 31 new tenure-track faculty members for the fall 2024 semester, reflecting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and growth.

These faculty members were selected through rigorous national searches, bringing expertise across diverse disciplines.

Sheryl A. Tucker, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, emphasized their integral role in advancing the university's strategic plan, Imagine 2030, which focuses on fostering innovation, inclusion, and student success.

Tucker expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled about the arrival of these new scholars.

Their passion for their fields and dedication to education will significantly impact both our undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the professional programs.”

The new faculty are expected to bring fresh perspectives and research opportunities to enhance SIU’s academic environment.

The new hires are joining SIU at a pivotal time, as the university seeks to strengthen its research output, enhance student engagement, and further diversify the campus community.

As they integrate into Saluki Nation, these educators will work closely with existing faculty and the leadership team to contribute meaningfully to SIU’s goals of achieving academic excellence, innovative research, and community engagement.

Welcome to the next generation of Saluki scholars!
