Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking nominations for the Lindell W. Sturgis Memorial Public Service Award, which honors an employee for their community work away from campus.

Established in 1979, the award is presented by the SIU Board of Trustees to an SIU Carbondale employee to recognize public service efforts and “contributions to the community, area, state or nation,” based upon activities unrelated to the employee’s job responsibilities. This prestigious award includes a cash gift of $1,000 and a plaque. Anyone on or off campus is invited to submit a nomination for a current SIU Carbondale employee.

Online nomination forms are available at the Lindell Sturgis website. Nominations must be received by Feb. 21. For more information, call 618-453-7424.

Please direct nominations to Sarah Vanvooren, Events and Outreach, Anthony Hall, Room 015 — Mail Code 6705, 1265 Lincoln Drive, Carbondale, IL 62901, or by email to events@siu.edu.

Pete Rosenbery — arts and design, architecture, automotive and aviation, humanities, journalism and mass communications, law, public policy, social sciences.
