A special pinning ceremony at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on May 7 at 5 p.m. in Ballroom B at the Student Center will recognize the nearly 100 Teacher Education Programs graduates.

The newest graduates from TEP located across campus and at the Rend Lake Marketplace campus and the University Center of Lake County recently completed their student teaching and will be honored for marking this final milestone on their pathways to becoming professional educators.

The teacher candidates complete three semesters of practical experience featuring part-time clinical assignments and then devote their final semester to full-time student teaching, serving in more than 60 schools around the region. The mentor teachers they served alongside in the classroom this spring will present the teacher candidates with their pins, marking the end of their SIU undergraduate experiences. A reception will follow for the teacher candidates, guests, clinical educators and mentor teachers.

Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the event. Those planning to attend are encouraged to email tep@siu.edu.

For more information about TEP, visit the website or contact the TEP office at tep@siu.edu.
