Illinois Extension offers free bird count workshops in November
Throughout the month of November, the public has the opportunity to participate in local Christmas Bird Counts.
The National Audubon Society will host free counting workshops to teach the basics of bird counting.
The Christmas Bird Count is the nation's longest-running community bird project, as most counts in southern Illinois are a 30 plus year tradition.
Before the count date, participants will practice counting with an expert and be able to sign up for other free bird counting events.
