Caritas Family Solutions is a human service agency that operates in Southern Illinois and the Metro East area and provides services to eliminate stressors and negative cycles that could lead to child abuse. Through April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, Caritas and its Intact Family Services continue supporting families.
Christy Taulbee, the Assistant Program Director of Intact Family Services, said quote, "In many cases, abuse happens when parents or caregivers are trying to deal with some other stressor in their life that they haven't been able to resolve by themselves- whether that be financial struggles, anger management, drug addiction or undiagnosed psychological problems..."
Intact caseworkers identify struggles with budgeting, grocery shopping, cleaning, organizing, and emotional support. The program helps connect families to counseling, mental health services, and anger management classes.
