The Southern Illinois Roller Girls will have their first bout after being on hiatus for almost three years because of the pandemic.
On Saturday January 14th the So Ill Roller Girls will hit the track at the pavilion in Marion.
The derby team is returning with an open gender scrimmage at 6pm.
League Co-President Elizabeth Cook says the absence of roller derby was rough on the team, but they’re happy to be back in the community.
“We went from 10 hours a week, plus outreach, plus social media stuff, plus to nothing at all except for the occasional social media comment, so it left quite a big void for a lot of us.”
This year’s schedule includes bouts on May 13th, October 28th and 29th and ends on December 2nd.
