20-year-old woman pedestrian killed in crash on U.S. Route 24 in Tazewell County

A woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle on a busy roadway outside Washington.

Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says the 20-year-old pedestrian was hit at the intersection of US Route 24 and Grosenbach Road just after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Her name is being withheld pending family notification. The crash is still under investigation.
