Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is issuing a warning to Illinois residents regarding AI scammers. Scammers are leveraging voice cloning, deep fake videos, and fake emails, texts, phone calls, and even video messages.

Other common scams include romance scams, Ponzi Schemes, or Affinity Schemes for investors.

They advise validating sender's identities, checking their records, avoiding untrusted attachments, links, and websites, and protecting digital and social media accounts. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

If you come across a scam, report it to the Illinois Secretary of State's Securities Division by calling (800) 628-7937 or by visiting their website.
