Last week the Illinois House of Representatives adopted new House Rules, HR 15, for the 104th General Assembly.

However, not everyone is happy with these rules.

State Representative David Friess, a Red Bud Republican, and other House Republicans voted no to HR 15.

They believe the new set of House Rules don't reflect transparency or a fair process for legislation introduced by Republicans.

During debate on the rules, Friess addressed the bills sponsors and said that he would have liked for House Republicans had been asked for input on the measures.

Friess also talked about the various House Resolutions, namely HR 26, that Republicans filed regarding the new House Rules.

Friess says that HR 26 will allow every member to bring forward a bill and committee, something he believes would be beneficial for the for the group.

"I think that would be very beneficial, not only for our state, but for this body," Friess said. "There's no reason why we should be afraid to debate any bill and committee."
