Food Pantry

Each of SIH’s four hospitals, the SIH Cancer Institute, the SIH System Office and SIH Medical Group clinics have launched unique, employee-led efforts.

Pantry officials say they hope this act of generosity will inspire other area businesses to step forward and join in helping their neighbors.

The event will be held in the former Old Navy Store inside University Mall in Carbondale.

This generosity is critical because at this time of the year area food pantries are struggling, especially to provide nutritious food for the kids they serve.

The Path 211 program is designed to connect families and individuals to critical services in the communities it serves.

The hunger sale has been held since 1975.

The canned soup distribution is Saturday, April 1st.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Saluki Food Pantry helps meet students’ needs and Legence Bank donated $5,000 to help the pantry accomplish its mission.

Food banks are preparing for an increased demand as benefits from the SNAP food aid program return to pre-pandemic levels.

John A Logan College opened a food locker this semester to provide on the go snacks and meals to students. The former office in the student services wing is stocked with ready to eat and microwaveable items including drinks and utensils.
