Organizers of the Southern Illinois Boat and Fishing Show announced they're canceling the show for 2021.
he annual show has been held at the Marion Pavilion for the last 12 years in February.
The three-day event has grown to draw six to eight thousand people, making planning for this year problematic.
“In the past have had more than 50 vendors and those vendors staff their booths with at least two to three people or more depending on the type of vendor they are and so there was just no way for us to proceed with the show.”
Visit SI CEO Shannon Wiesenmayer says with the gathering restrictions 50 or less forced them to make a difficult decision.
All the proceeds are donated to two local charities, so Weisenmayer says they're working on ways to help with fundraising. For WSIU I’m Benjy Jeffords.
