Southeast Missouri State University is sticking with a familiar face in the hiring of its new Director of Athletics.
Brady Barke, who has been serving as the interim A.D. since last July, was named to the position permanently Tuesday during a news conference on the Cape Girardeau campus.
Barke says he knows fans are hungry for a winner.
"When we were Division II we had that. That's all I've heard for the last 10 or 11 months as I've gone around. Everyone has either talked about, 'Do you remember how it was? Or why can't we get back there?' The answer is we can."
Barke replaces Mark Alnutt, who resigned in July 2015 to accept a position with the University of Memphis.
Barke began his tenure at Southeast in 2008 as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance & Eligibility. He previously served as a law clerk with the SIU-Carbondale Department of Athletics Compliance Office.
