Decades ago, deer hunters were required to add blaze orange to their wardrobe to cut down on hunting accidents.
As the law stands, hunters using firearms must wear 4-hundred square inches of blaze orange clothing, along with a blaze orange hat... but lawmakers are considering a new fashion choice: blaze pink.
Republican State Representative Dave Severin of Benton is the sponsor.
"In all actuality and sincerity... it is something that is serious. There are actually six other states that have this as a law and we found that you can actually see blaze pink better than you can see blaze orange."
Hunter safety is cited as the primary reason for the change.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says it would not be opposed to the addition.
