Southern Illinois Lawmakers Press Pritzker to Allow Grand American

Millions of dollars in tourism revenue could go to another state, if Illinois doesn't allow the annual Amateur Trapshooting Association's Grand American competition to be held in Sparta.

The Association notified the Governor's office that unless he gives the green light before June 15th to allow the event at Sparta's World Shooting and Recreational Complex, it will move to another state - along with the estimated $10-$20 million in tourism dollars it would bring in.

State Senator Paul Schimpf joined many downstate lawmakers in urging Pritzker to say yes, despite COVID-19 worries.
