This Fall, qualifying Ameren Illinois customers can get a zero dollar Google Nest Smart Thermostat. With a smart thermostat, customers can manage their home's temperatures from their smart phone or tablet.

The smart thermostat can help Illinois residents control their home's heating and cooling even when they're away from home. This can potentially help customers reduce their energy usage.

Ameren Illinois spokesperson Karly Combest says that smart thermostats are good for the environment and help customers save money.

"They're really convenient and easy for customers. So, you can kind of set it and forget it or you can pull it up on your phone, change it from anywhere."

Current Ameren Illinois electric or gas service customers are eligible for the offer.

The Google Nest Thermostat is included at no cost with tax and shipping included through November 30.
