Candace Monae of K2 Academy cuts the ribbon to celebrate the creation of her business and her graduation from the SBDC’s Launch That Business program. SBDC officials hold the ribbon and join her in marking the special occasion.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center at SIU is celebrating 40 years since it's launch in 1985. They're celebrating the businesses they've helped at the center by hosting a free celebration with presentations, speakers, and refreshments. The event is 4:30 Wednesday July 16th in the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center. During the program they will recognize 4 businesses that represent the hundreds they've helped during the four decades.

WSIU talked with Melissa Ray Roach of the SIU Office of Innovation and Economic Development. She is a former SBDC director who still works with the Center's clients.
