Barb Elam, psychotherapist and wellness speaker, will be the featured presenter at the Wednesday, September 17 meeting of Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR). She will share simple, yet powerful, tools and practical techniques for navigating personal stress and/or cultural pressures in today’s fast-paced world.
Barb Elam, MS, LCPC, has been a professional psychotherapist and wellness speaker for 35+ years, working at SIUC and in private practice. She has been a consultant for state and national agencies on wellness areas. Ms. Elam has provided over 1,000 presentations to a variety of community groups on topics such as Stress, Happiness, Anger Management, Communication Issues, Relationships, Emotional IQ, Anxiety/Depression, Meditation, Habit Change and related topics. She has authored ongoing news columns on behavioral health that have appeared in numerous media outlets.
The SILIR monthly meeting is free and open to the public. The meeting will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua in Carbondale. The presentation begins at 10:30 am.
